The things people ask.
Will it drain my battery?
It redraws only when something changes — once a minute for a design without seconds. Designs that animate, like the record player, do so only while music is playing. There's a pure black backdrop for AMOLED screens, which costs almost nothing to show.
Why does it want Notification access?
Only for the two music designs. Android hands over what's playing — title, artist, album art — through that permission and no other. Tickface reads no notifications, and nothing leaves your phone. Skip it and those designs show "Nothing playing".
Why does it want my location?
Only for Beacon, the desk clock with the weather. Your approximate position, rounded to about a kilometre, is sent to a weather service and nowhere else. Refuse it and Beacon shows dashes instead.
Do I lose paid designs if I change phone?
No. Purchases belong to your Google account, so they come back when you sign in and reinstall.
Does it work on my phone?
Any phone on Android 8 or newer. Some manufacturers — Xiaomi, Oppo, Samsung — stop background work aggressively, so the app shows you which battery setting to change.
Is it on iPhone?
No. iOS does not allow third-party live wallpapers, so Tickface is Android only.
